Applied Systems receives top industry honors on both sides of border

Industry standards groups in U.S. and Canada recognize technology vendor

University Park, Illinois – May 28, 2009 Insurance technology company Applied Systems recently extended its unbroken string of annual awards for ACORD Download Vendor of the Year, on the heels of receiving a CSIO award citing innovations that have the greatest positive impact on Canada brokers.

For the 16th consecutive year, Applied Systems is Download Vendor of the Year for Total Implementations, an achievement recognized by the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD), the U.S. nonprofit insurance standards association. The prestigious annual honor signifies that more pairs of agencies and carriers communicate through Applied Systems agency management technology than through any other system.

Earlier this month, Applied Systems Canada received the second Annual Achievement Award for XML Innovations presented by the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO). CSIO supports industry standards in Canada by enabling a competitive advantage for the independent broker distribution channel.

In addition to recognition as ACORD Download Vendor of the Year, Applied Systems also received these awards, presented at a ceremony during the 2009 ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum in Orlando, Florida:

  • Innovative Implementation, for groundbreaking achievement in claims download
  • Early Adopter - Forms
  • Shared Service / Outsourcer or Infrastructure Platform/Middleware
  • Real Time Implementation & Download Implementations, Multiple Trading Partners
  • Commercial Lines Download

“Agents identify the real-time and download interfaces that we deliver as the largest factors in increased efficiencies,” said Doug Johnston, Applied Systems Vice President of Partner Relations and Product Innovation. “Our work with ACORD is what allows us to continue to provide these efficient solutions to agents, carriers and other industry partners in the marketplace.”

In Canada, CSIO President Steve Kaukinen said that Applied Systems Canada, “above all other candidates, had the greatest positive impact across the most brokers.” In addition, the company was judged to have the most measurable return on investment (as determined by brokers) and the most innovative use of CSIO XML standards. Applied Systems received the Achievement Award during the CSIO’s annual general meeting in Toronto, Ontario.

“As an innovative company, Applied Systems has shown great willingness to meet broker needs in finding ways to make it easier to do business,” Kaukinen said. “Through the use of CSIO XML standards, Applied Systems is delivering more features to broker clients.”
